Honorary Consul of Austria to Bangladesh

Mr. Tasvir Ul Islam is the current Honorary Consul of Austria to Bangladesh a position he has held since September 2002. He was awarded the prestigious “Medal of Honor” from the Honorable President of Republic of Austria in 2013 for his outstanding contribution as honorary consul.    

In professional career, Mr. Islam is the Managing Director & CEO of Quasem Industries Limited, one of Bangladesh's oldest and most respected business conglomerates. He is a long-established member of the Bangladeshi business community and well respected amongst his peers in for his business acumen and unyielding honesty.

Along with being a successful businessman, Mr. Islam is a relentless philanthropist who throughout his career has focused as much on humanitarian work as he has non profit-minded business. The Quasem Foundation of which he is the Managing Director, has established a maternity hospital, 3 eye hospitals, 6 vision centers and modern school in one of the poorest and remote parts of Northern Bangladesh from where Mr. Islam originally hails. Along with running these establishments the Quasem Foundation also makes large humanitarian donations when flood, natural calamity, severe cold waves or medical relief is necessary.

Mr. Islam's father, Mr. Abul Quasem was the former Deputy Speaker during the Pakistan period and his brother AKM Maidul Islam served as a Minister and Member of Parliament for over 20 years, his other brother AKM Mainul Islam served as the Honorary Consul of Austria from 1987 till he passed away in 2001.  Mr. Islam is married to Dr. Reyan Anis Islam,  one of the most renowned Interventional Cardiologist in Bangladesh, they have one son and one daughter who both work with Mr. Islam in both his businesses and philanthropic activities.
